Gold Recovery Activated Carbon

Gold Recovery Activated Carbon

Afrohind’s Gold recovery activated carbon is a specialized coconut-shell-based granular carbon engineered to efficiently adsorb and recover gold from cyanide leach solutions in modern mining operations..

Overview

Afrohind’s Gold Recovery Activated Carbon is designed for high performance in CIP, CIL, CIC and related gold extraction circuits, helping mines maximise recovery while maintaining tight control over operating costs and environmental compliance. Using carefully selected coconut shell and controlled activation, the product combines high purity, hardness and surface area to deliver consistent results in demanding metallurgical plants.

Role in Gold recovery

In gold cyanidation, finely ground ore is leached with a cyanide solution to dissolve gold into a gold–cyanide complex, which must then be efficiently captured for economic recovery. Activated carbon selectively adsorbs these gold complexes from the leach slurry or solution, allowing the precious metal to be stripped, regenerated and refined into doré bars.

Processes supported

Afrohind carbon is suitable for Carbon-in-Pulp (CIP), Carbon-in-Leach (CIL), Carbon-in-Column (CIC) and carbon-in-circuit applications across a wide range of ore types and plant configurations. Optimised adsorption–desorption behaviour ensures fast loading, excellent elution performance and stable recovery over many regeneration cycles.

Performance characteristics

The product offers high adsorption kinetics and a large internal surface area, enabling rapid capture of dissolved gold even at low concentrations in complex process liquors. Carefully controlled particle-size distribution promotes good slurry hydraulics, low pressure drop and maximum contact between carbon and solution in tanks and columns

Product properties

Afrohind’s Gold Recovery Activated Carbon is based on hard, low-ash coconut shell granules, providing high fixed carbon, low attrition, and minimal fines generation in agitated reactors. Typical premium-grade specifications in this category include high iodine number, strong mechanical hardness, controlled moisture, and bulk density tailored for efficient tank inventory and handling.

Quality and packaging

Every batch is tested against stringent parameters such as surface area, hardness, moisture, ash and adsorption performance to ensure reliable operation in full-scale plants. Standard packaging options for similar gold grades include 25 kg bags and larger bulk bags, allowing safe, efficient handling, storage and transport to mine sites worldwide
